Baker River, Rumney NH

Every year I book a big family camping trip with two of my husbands sisters and their families. Camping is so special to me that I want to make sure that I can check most of the boxes for everyone coming so I try to find the perfect spot!

Baker River has sites 20 & 21 that can be combined to form a huge group site. You could easily fit 8 travel trailers between the two sites. Truly, the amount of space on this site was incredible. This site was so perfectly located that you would wouldn’t realize you are in a campground that is fully booked.

The kids loved playing in the river and sliding in the sand at the beach area. Who am I kidding? I loved sitting in the sand with my feet in the water too! My husband doesn’t normally go into the water but he saw this river and he wanted to float down it. Did I forget to mention that you can float the river at this campground?! People were dropping in right at the campground and floating to the covered bridge up the road

We really aren’t a rowdy crowd but sometimes we do get to laughing a little louder than we should! As a mother of small kids I can understand and appreciate quiet hours and the enforcement of that rule. We didn’t realize the time and at 10pm the campground owner came around and kindly asked us to try to keep it quiet. I appreciate her dedication to following through with quiet hour rules, even if it did mean we got hushed.

Everyone absolutely loved everything about this campground. It was close to Clark’s Bear’s, near a small airport (a must for little boys!) and minutes away from plenty of shopping. I honestly cannot think of a single thing that disappointed us. I was fully prepared to make this our yearly campground but at the end of the season the woman sold the campground. I don’t know what changes will come with the new owners, if any changes so for now I will sit back a few seasons and try some new favorites.
