Twin Mountain Campground, Twin Mountain NH

We have stayed at this campground twice. The first time was a large family camping trip. We knew from previous experience that this campground is fairly rough but it’s in a really great location with tons of great hikes all within a few miles.

The campsites at this campground are nicely spaced from each other with plenty of trees to provide privacy. Some of the sites on the water are perfect. Site 28 has a little hidden spot. There is a little clearing behind the site that leads down to the water and to an overlook of the river.

It was pretty unfortunate that out of both trips staying here the bathrooms were in beyond terrible condition. Most of the toilets did not flush during any of our stays here. Beyond the toilets not working, the bathrooms were very dirty.

We usually try to pick campsites that are close to the playground because the kids spend most of their camping time at the playground. They look forward to the playground more than anything. The playground though was so unsafe that we couldn’t let the kids play on it. Someone had tried to support the playground with 2×4’s but the entire structure dramatically leaned to the side so I wasn’t willing to let my oldest play on it. The kids wanted to use the pool instead but it was so dirty and the smell of the dump station was so strong that we couldn’t do that either.

Unfortunately this was a terrible experience for us. After the first trip we weren’t “wowed” but I believe in giving a second chance. I tried and there were just far too many negatives about this campground that I won’t stay here again. The reviews I had seen online made me leery but now I understand just why those reviews were written.
